The Forest Creek Community Development District Flag Pole at the main lake was repaired today, May 21st, 2020.
Early this year, it was noticed that the flag was only attached at one corner. As the Flag was going to be replaced it was noticed that the halyard was damaged. To avoid further damage, the new Flag was not raised. The halyard replacement was approved and ordered from Head's Flag in February. The contractor came out as the old, damage halyard was still on the flag pole, but was damaged. Head’s suggested we not use the halyard as it could get bound up in the pulley at the top and that would greatly increase the cost of repairs. The contractor came out in late February or early March and taped the new halyard to the end of the old halyard and gently pulled it up and when it got to the pulley, the two separated and both came off of the flag pole. Now a bucket truck would be required and Head’s original estimate stated that if a bucket truck was required it would be an additional $350. Tony from Head’s called and said that if we could wait a couple of weeks he had an insurance job in Sarasota that required a bucket truck and he would have the contactor stop in on his way back to Tampa. Then COVID19 hit and Head’s Flag had to shut down. Recently business were allowed to reopen and Head's Flag was approved this week to use a bucket truck to replace the halyard.
This morning the contractor installed the new halyard and the Flag is now flying again at the main lake.
